Woman Hires Private Investigator to Follow Boyfriend and His ‘Work Wife,’ Finds That He’s Been Lying About ‘Staying late at the office’
The phrases 'work wife' and 'work husband' have entered our colloquial vernacular overnight. Who decided this is okay? Personally, I think it's a little cringe. If you're both single, it just comes off as immature and withholding. Just date if you are already calling them husband and wife. But if you're in a relationship…it's even weirder. Imagine calling a male friend, 'second boyfriend,' to your partner? This nomenclature isn't meaningless. If it's just friends, then why does their title imply that you're already married?
This takes us to the Reddit thread. In this story, the woman's boyfriend refers to a coworker of his as 'work wife.' She's initially okay with it, until his behavior starts to change. This switch induces her skepticism. She goes as far as to hire a private investigator to see if her boyfriend is really where he says he is. Ladies, if it looks like a duck, it's a duck.
